"Calling Home" & "An American Childhood"

On a literal level, both of these stories share experiences of a young child who gets into trouble and in the end learns something valuable from it.

I think that writers use framing to sort of bring the whole story together in the end. It involves taking something significant from the beginning of the story and then bringing it up again towards the end. In a way it wraps everything up and makes the reader think back and take a look at the big picture at the end of the story.

When a writer includes self experiences or their own life lessons they have learned, it makes up a very well written and interesting story. I love reading or hearing about what other people have gone through. It keeps my attention and helps me learn from their past experiences as well.
